Description
In January begins the complete retrospective that Filmoteca Española dedicates in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival to Detlef Sierck / Douglas Sirk: "Douglas Sirk. The immediate thrill.” A filmmaker who "crossed flawless, mysterious and serene, all the whirlwind and turbulence of the worlds where he lived." (Antonio Drove)
Few filmmakers have been as polished as Sirk. He's no longer a stranger to film history, as he was during his active years. Aspects of his work have been analyzed such as the pinnacle of perfection and reflection that led the American melodrama, its critical view of the United States, or its feminist sensitivity. It is enough to take a certain distance to discover in it surprising productivity and diversity: forty films in twenty-five years, with a four-year interruption due to exile.
During January, February and March, Filmoteca Española offers all its German films and works in Hollywood.
