Description
When salsa crossed the ocean and embraced Ireland... Baile An Salsa was born.
In a small town called Galway, something extraordinary began to stir in 2012. Nine musicians, nine souls with roots traveling from Latin America to the land of the Celts, came together to create a music that didn't exist. It wasn't salsa. It wasn't Irish music. It was a new fusion, a vibrant celebration of sonic fusion: Salsa-Trad.
Led by the charismatic Andrés Martorell—Uruguayan by blood, Irish by heart—they began to blend Afro-Latin rhythms with bagpipes, Celtic violins, and lyrics in three languages: English, Spanish, and Irish. The result? A profound, joyful, and liberating musical celebration where no one stays still.
From their debut EP to their acclaimed album Ériu, produced by five-time Grammy winner Walter Flores, Baile An Salsa has conquered stages around the world: from the Temple Bar Trad Fest in Dublin to the Philadelphia Folk Fest in front of over 100,000 people. They've even had the honor of playing for the President of Ireland.
But beyond the awards, the charts, and the standing ovations, their music carries a powerful message: the beauty of diversity, the strength of unity, the universal language of rhythm that connects us all.
Baile An Salsa is not just a band. It's a bridge. It's an embrace. It's what happens when tradition dares to dance with change.
