CUCURUCHO VALDÉS, JAVIER COLINA & MOISÉS PORRO TRIO: A TRIBUTE TO BEBO VALDÉS
A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE CUBAN PIANIST, COMPOSER, AND ARRANGER
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2026
An emotional tribute to one of the great pillars of Cuban music: Bebo Valdés. This concert celebrates the legacy of an artist who revolutionized Afro-Cuban jazz and left an indelible mark on the history of Latin music. On the tenth anniversary of his passing in 2023, three exceptional musicians came together to pay tribute to his artistic and human legacy: his grandson, pianist Cucurucho Valdés; bassist Javier Colina—a close friend and collaborator of Bebo's—and percussionist Moisés Porro, a key figure in the Afro-Cuban music scene.
This trio, which defines itself as a “quartet” due to Bebo's spiritual presence in every note, offers a journey through his work, including emblematic pieces from the classical and popular Cuban repertoire, original compositions by Cucurucho, and songs that Bebo and Colina performed together on legendary stages such as the Village Vanguard in New York.
With a combination of virtuosity, rhythm, emotion, and respect for tradition, it is a celebration of Afro-Cuban music in its most authentic and vibrant form, and a tribute to the elegance and depth of the Valdés legacy.
Cucurucho Valdés, piano
Javier Colina, double bass
Moisés Porro, percussion
