Shakespeare hit the nail on the head when writing the most famous love story of all time. That of the couple of ill-fated lovers, heirs to the two most important families in all of Verona: A Montague and a Capulet. But if the playwright managed to get us hooked on this story, Charles Gounod did the trick with his score. Romeo and Juliet is a modern and almost fantastic take on the story of the classic lovers, visually stunning and with an alternative ending that brings a breath of fresh and renovating air that gives new brushstrokes to a classic repertoire, while being an effective hook to attract new and young audiences to the world of poetry.
