Description

XVI Flamenco Panorama Cycle
Two artists who expand flamenco beyond its borders
Pianist Alex Conde and dancer Nino de los Reyes present an original performance, the result of combining the talents of these two leading figures in flamenco at the national level, blending the pianist's musical talent with the dancer's expressiveness.

'Rhythm and Compás' is a contemporary show rooted in flamenco and venturing into new territories. A vibrant dialogue between tradition and what is to come.

But the true essence of the show lies in the connection between the dancer and the rest of the band, achieving magical moments of interpretation and improvisation on original compositions and covers. In this duo, dance acts as another instrument, contributing the musicality and percussion of the body and a visual dimension to the performance.

A sonic journey where the piano takes the deep, soulful words of flamenco and transforms them into pulse, harmony, and emotion. Dancer Nino de los Reyes responds from the earth, with strength, form, and fire.

Their Journeys
From the roots of traditional flamenco to its most innovative expression, Alex Conde and Nino de los Reyes represent two parallel paths that have taken flamenco art to international stages, fusing it with other musical styles and performance languages without losing its essence.

Alex Conde, a Valencian pianist and composer who has lived in the United States for over a decade, is a key figure in the fusion of flamenco and jazz. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and trained at the Aaron Copland Conservatory in New York, his forays into Spanish music began as an arranger on the albums of his father, the copla singer Alejandro Conde, at the age of 14. His career as a pianist has led him to open for artists such as Diego el Cigala (Lehman Center, New York), Tomatito (Noches del Botánico, Madrid), and Vicente Amigo (Redondo Beach Center, Los Angeles).

Lothar Nino Ríos Batchelder (Boston, 1985), known as Nino de los Reyes in the art world, is the second son of flamenco dancers and choreographers Ramón de los Reyes and Clara Ramona. The dancer has flamenco in his blood and exudes raw power on stage. His versatility has led him to join Enrique Morente's company and collaborate with renowned flamenco and jazz musicians, including Jorge Pardo, Rubén Dantas, and Josémi Carmona. In 2020, he made history by becoming the first flamenco dancer to win a Grammy Award, thanks to his participation in pianist Chick Corea's album 'Antidote'. He has also won awards at choreographic competitions and has created his own shows such as Origen, Inside, and Tierra. He currently directs the Las Cabales Dance School in Guadalajara, Mexico, further solidifying his commitment to transmitting the art of flamenco.

Both artists are examples of a generation that honors the tradition of flamenco while projecting it strongly into the future, bringing a contemporary, open and deeply personal perspective to an art that continues to beat strongly across the five continents.
