Sinning for Affection
With La Malinche, Evelyn Cornejo, Reina Roja, and Deals
Karmen Cercós has been leading Skaparapid for over 30 years, bringing her love for Ska and Benimaclet to the main stages of Spain and Latin America.
She has shared the stage with great artists such as Fermín Muguruza, Los Auténticos Decadentes, The Toasters, Bad Manners, Desmond Dekker, Todos Tus Muertos, SkaP, Out of Control Army, Pericos, Bersuit, The Selecters, Ki Sap, Malarians, and hundreds of other groups over the past three decades.
Now Karmen takes a step forward, the fruit of her personal and musical evolution, driven by romanticism, visceral emotion, and reflection. This time under the umbrella of bolero and more intimate songs. The bravery that has accompanied her in substance and form for decades is softened in the formula with this Latin American nod.
This solo journey (very well accompanied, as always) translates into a collection of self-written songs in which she dares to explore cha cha chá, bolero, and romantic songs, among other styles, demonstrating a maturity that only those who have lived and continue to live with passion, emotion, and courage can possess.
It is in this format that she finds she can share and express her experiences, composing and writing lyrics that reflect her reality.
The band consists of:
Antonio J. Iglesias, on percussion and vocals. He has been part of such important bands as Malarians, Dwomo, and Los Toreros Muertos and has collaborated on the composition, arrangements, and some lyrics of the songs, in addition to taking on the role of artistic production of the album.
Gilberstático, on keyboards, has his own artistic project, Gilberto Aubán, with which he recently released a fantastic fifth album. He forms an artistic partnership with Antonio in the Caifás Duo, his famous project adapting the songs from the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar into a lounge version. Gilberto contributes his genius in composition, arrangements, and as a multi-instrumentalist on the piano, Spanish guitar, ukulele, and vocals.
Vicente Llorca, Mono. A classic of the Valencian scene, he has been part of numerous bands such as Fado Blues, Los globos de Rudolf, Mono33, and La Peluquera, a guitarist and great connoisseur of the genre.
