The Cello of a Thousand Accents
With hundreds of concerts in 40 countries under his belt, cellist and composer Matthieu Saglio presents a musical performance centered around the cello, combining classical tradition with sounds and rhythms gathered from his encounters around the world.
He delivers a series of moving compositions, where the echoes of Western cathedrals and Maghreb souks, Latin American tango and Iberian flamenco resonate. The magic of the sampler allows him to record himself live to harmonize and expand the pieces, as if several cellos were playing together, always leaving ample room for improvisation.
They have said:

Matthieu Saglio
Thanks to his instantly recognizable sound and great versatility, Matthieu Saglio has established himself as one of the most exciting cellists of his generation. Classically trained, he is one of the pioneers of introducing the cello into flamenco with the group Jerez-Texas, with whom he has performed worldwide since 2002. In addition, Matthieu frequently works on a wide variety of projects, both solo and in groups, as well as collaborating with numerous artists. In 2015, he formed the trio NES, with whom he has toured extensively throughout Europe. The album 'Ahlam', released by the prestigious German label ACT in 2018, has received unanimous praise from international critics and nearly 3 million streams on Spotify.
In 2020, Matthieu released the album 'El camino de los vientos' (The Path of the Winds), again with the ACT label, featuring collaborations with leading European jazz musicians. This album received international critical acclaim and 8 million streams on Spotify. In April 2023, Matthieu released the album 'Voices', also with ACT, as a tribute to great voices from around the world such as Susana Baca, Alim Qasimov, Natacha Atlas, Wasis Diop, Nils Landgren, and others. His compositions have frequently been sought after for soundtracks for theater, dance, and documentaries. The guiding principle of Matthieu's career has always been to create a dialogue between his cello and other cultures. In this spirit, he has been named an artist ambassador for the Yehudi Menuhin International Foundation.
