The Masaveu Collection is one of the most important private titles in Spain and contains no more and no less than 46 works by Joaquín Sorolla, also known as "the painter of light" because with his techniques he was able to paint atmospheres like nobody. Thanks to the interest of Pedro Masaveu Peterson (1938-1993), one of the main promoters of this compilation, the Masaveu Collection has acquired the largest number of works by Joaquín Sorolla collected. It not only stands out for its number of pieces but also for the excellent quality of each of them which, together, allow us to understand the pictorial evolution of this artistic genius of the 19th century. It is also the third in volume and importance in the international arena, only surpassed by the collections of two public institutions: the Sorolla Museum, in Madrid, and the Hispanic Society of America, in New York.
