Description

Are you interested in learning about postwar art? The IVAM hosts between February 16 and June 18, 2023 an interesting exhibition on the Danish artist Asger Jon entitled «Open creation and his enemies: Asger Jorn in situation». His work allows us to understand how art changed after World War II and its relationships with abstract expressionism, pop art and social practice. It also invites us to delve into different moments in history and situations with which Jorn was related since his birth in 1914.

The exhibition is not presented in chronological order nor does it include only a selection of plastic works, but rather includes publications, photographs, films, as well as abundant documentary material, experimental publications and magazines. In addition, this exhibition also features the most in-depth study to date on the Scandinavian Institute for Comparative Vandalism (SICV). what?

An experimental art historical research project that Jorn undertook in the 1960s, with the aim of producing a series of photography books documenting '10,000 years of Nordic folk art'. Do not miss it because it is compared to the "Atlas Mnemosyne" by Aby Warburg or the "Imaginary Museum" by André Malraux.
