Description
The exhibition organized by the Hortensia Herrero Foundation presents for the first time in Valencia the works of Julian Opie (London, 1958).
Sixteen pieces, installed in the Plaza del Colegio del Patriarca and the Center Cultural La Nau , make up the exhibition that focuses on the human figure in motion, walking through the city, alone or in the middle of a crowd; strolling, running to catch a train or waiting in the square with folded arms.
The works exhibited in the streets of the center of Valencia have the objective of bringing contemporary art closer to the public. For this project the artist has created two steel sculptures twelve meters high and six tons in weight that occupy the Plaza del Colegio del Patriarca.
Next to them, a sculptural group of four walkers of more than two meters is installed whose origin is the photographs that Opie takes of anonymous people who circulate on the street.
The exhibition continues in the cloister of La Nau with figures that dialogue with the statue of Luis Vives.
The exhibition runs until September 19, 2021 .
