Description
Live a summer of cinema! Within the cinematographic activities, the Berlanga and comedy cycle is inaugurated, within the program of 'Nits de Cinema', which is held from July 13 to 23 in the cloister of La Nau of the University of Valencia, as well as the 'Filmoteca d'Estiu', which will be screened from July 29 to August 30 in the gardens of the Palau de la Música.
The cycle includes comedies that inspired Berlanga or were directed by directors of his generation or film masters admired by the Valencian filmmaker.
Within this summer cycle there are four films directed by Berlanga: 'Welcome, Mister Marshall!' (1952) and 'Novio a la vista' (1954), and 'La escopeta nacional' (1977), which begins the 'National Trilogy' on the democratic transition.
Also noteworthy is the presence of the classic French cinema 'Monsieur Hulot's Vacation' (1953), by Jacques Tati, a filmmaker much loved by Berlanga; and two essential classics of Italian cinema: 'Rufufu', by Mario Monicelli (1958), and 'Los inútiles' (1953), by Federico Fellini.
This summer there will be many more activities to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Luis García Berlanga and which will continue in 2022, at least until the next Goya Awards, whose headquarters will be Valencia.
