Description

Can you imagine a world where showing love to your partner in public is a crime?

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction ...

Discover this stark truth at the Carolina Theater. What you are going to see is not fiction, it happened not long ago in this blessed country, when intransigence ruled our lives and deprived us of freedom, in each and every one of the senses. At that time, the bride and groom could not hug each other in parks, buses, cinemas, beaches, guateques ,? as they ran the risk of being surprised by the guards on duty and being taken to the barracks. A simple hug of love was not only a sin, but also a crime.

Kissing the bride was a sin, let alone if you were trying to imitate what came to us from abroad. It was necessary, therefore, to be very careful, because for the prevailing morality everything was conceptualized as horrendous vices, immodest acts, terrible sins and Satan's favorite fair. Men and women were separated from the very birth, in schools, churches, hospitals, beaches ...

Despite this, we have survived and today we can tell about it for all those who did not experience it, and who will surely attend this theatrical document, in a comedic tone, with a certain disbelief. Well, yes, everything that is said in the work was true and those who paint gray today lived it to a greater or lesser extent ...

This work is a tribute to the memory of the actor and director Pep Cortés, who 15 years ago directed this play, produced by Zircó Producciones, and who for months was mounting, recreating and reeling off a series of texts compiled by Luis Otero.

The dramaturgy was not easy, hence the greatest merit of Cortés and the modest contribution that all those who participated in that production have had, providing their own experiences lived in those years of illustrious misinformation and control. On this occasion, the Catopa Teatro group is in charge of bringing it to the stage.
