Luis Piedrahita. Apocalyptically Correct
A Witty Monologue on Freedom
The show that moved Stephen Hawking's chair
Apocalyptically Correct is Luis Piedrahita's new show, a witty monologue about freedom.
Human beings have always wanted to do whatever they please, but is that possible, or is our destiny written and unchangeable?
Luis satirizes horoscopes, which he considers irrefutable proof that our destiny is written in the stars, and camper vans, which he claims prove that it's written on road maps. In this monologue, Piedrahita attacks topics like electric eels, pubic hair, soy milk, rain, and freedom of expression with the destructive fury of a puppy. These are controversial subjects, but Luis fears nothing. Why? Because fear scares away laughter, and conversely, laughter scares away fear.
A monologue with a touch of magic, essential for understanding the origin of our fears and our hopes. A pilgrimage, a goldfinch's stride, through the meadows of absurdity, surrealism, and imagination. What's the point of all this? None. But nobody can say anything to Piedrahita because he does this for one reason only: Because he wants to. It's written, and we can't change it.
