2021 Desplante Feminine Award for Best Dancer An intimate show, where the dance with the shawl is the protagonist The young dancer Paula Rodríguez, winner of the Desplante Feminine Award for Best Dancer at the last International Festival of Cante de las Minas, offers us this intimate show, accompanied on cante by José del Calli and on percussion by Luky Losada, where the dance with the shawl is the protagonist. If the beating of the heart is essential to live, the shawl gives life and strength to my dance.

The shawl is my axis, it protects me, covers me and expands me. Sometimes loyal and meek, sometimes rebellious and reluctant.

Through the most traditional forms of flamenco such as taranto or cantiñas, the shawl becomes the leitmotif of the show. Paula Rodriguez Paula Rodríguez Lázaro was born in Santander and at the age of 4 she began dancing at the Armengou Authorized Dance Center, where she studied classical, contemporary and flamenco dance. In 2005 she moved to Madrid to complete her studies at the Center for Spanish Dance and Flamenco Amor de Dios, with teachers such as La Truco, Alfonso Losa, Pepa Molina and Professor Merche Esmeralda.

She is currently a regular dancer at the Cardamomo tablao, sharing stages with Juan Andrés Maya, Antonio Canales, José Maya El Farru or El Yiyo.

She combines this activity with the staging of different shows in which she directs her own company.
