Description:

El Almudín dates from the early 14th century. It is a building built on the Muslim fortress, which can be visited in the Plaza de San Luis Bertrán, famous above all for its fountain built in Xàbia stone. The original building served as a storage and sale space for wheat. The city had to take responsibility for its supply, its custody and its subsequent distribution. It was soon shown that its dimensions were insufficient and during the 15th and 16th centuries it underwent further extensions. Its exterior architecture highlights the porch raised during the first half of the 16th century, as well as the decorative presence of the city's coats of arms and the always imposing doorway with a semicircular arch.
