(The Secret of Nimh,, Don Bluth, 1982)
USA. PCD. YOU*. Color. 82'
When one of her children falls ill, a mouse is forced to enlist the help of a community of rats with a mysterious past. In 1979, animators Don Bluth, John Pomeroy and Gary Goldman left Disney to form their own studio, after years of disappointment at what they saw as the decline of a great company. They had lofty ideals and a lot to prove, but with their first feature they were up to the challenge. […] Bluth's team drew each background with an abundance of detail, texture, weight and depth. They clothed characters in shadows and reflections, built the tone for each scene using expressive color palettes and lighting approaches, and designed vivid photo effects that literally make the film glow."
