Hate to Love (1982, 30')
Paul, a bored teenager adrift amidst the pressures and contradictions of modern life, finds himself torn between love, frustration, and money. His turbulent relationship with Natalie—a young woman with firm convictions against sexism and other social injustices—forces him to question the attitudes and prejudices that shape his worldview. Conceived as a fairy tale about consumer society, *Hate to Love* blends youthful disillusionment, romantic conflict, and social critique into an experimental portrait of urban life in the early 1980s.
The Traveller (1989, 96')
Robert is a successful dealer in Pacific masks who travels to the coast of Western Canada for work. There, near the island where he grew up in an Indigenous community, the past comes rushing back. Caught between the person he has become and who he once was—having been married to an Indigenous woman and active in the fight for Indigenous rights during his university years—Robert finds himself suspended between two cultural worlds. As he attempts to shed the values and privileges of the dominant culture, he discovers that returning to his former life is not as simple as putting on an old jacket.
