Description
CASA-MIENTO (Weddings Without Blood) is a polyphonic monologue—a one-person theatrical tour de force. In this comedy, a single actress embodies multiple characters, employing a diverse array of techniques and genres, including object theater, text-based performance, physical theater, dance, and performance art. It is an emotional, ritualistic journey that culminates in a very special celebration, in which the audience actively participates in an atavistic and joyful wedding union.
SYNOPSIS
Can a tailor be a mother? Can a pair of shoes be a father? Can a jacket be a groom? Can a blue handkerchief be a ghost? A woman prepares to walk down the aisle. In the moments leading up to this ritual, she is visited by memories and ghosts from her past, alongside the doubts and longings she holds for the future. It is an emotional journey where pivotal figures from her life—family, friends, the living, and the dead—reappear, embodied by objects that engage in a dialogue with the protagonist through a multi-genre performance. The piece questions the meaning of marriage today, explores the reasons why we celebrate such unions, and invites a confrontation with—and an assessment of—one’s own life, urging us to squeeze every drop out of it before it’s too late. Reality and fiction, sanity and delirium, time and space—all expand and contract within this wild, moving, funny, and profound story. The soul is laid bare as the BRIDE’s body is adorned for the initiatory ceremony she is about to share with the audience. Will you join us?
