ALTE Exams for Romanian Language Proficiency Certification, May 2026

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid is offering the second session of exams for obtaining the ALTE Romanian language proficiency certification.

The exams will take place on May 18 and 19, 2026.

Location: Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid (Plaza del Cordón 1, ground floor, right, 28005, Madrid)

Time: 10:00 AM

Price: €100

Learning Levels:

- B1, B2, C1 (linked to the CEFR). An international ALTE certificate is issued for these levels.

- C2 (linked to the CEFR) for this level a certificate issued by the UBB/ICR consortium is issued, valid before Universities and Educational Institutions.

All tests will take place on the specified day at 10:00 a.m.

The oral exam will be held after the written exam.

Receptive and productive oral and written skills are assessed, including a communicative construction component (grammar and vocabulary).

ALTE has established a common framework of standards that covers the entire language assessment process and applies to exams for any language in order to guarantee the quality of tests for all ALTE members.

The UBB-ICR consortium (Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and the Romanian Cultural Institute) received full membership status at the ALTE (Association of Language Examiners in Europe) Annual General Meeting on 21.09.2017, thus becoming the first and only representative of the Romanian language within ALTE, the most prestigious professional association in the field of foreign language assessment.
