Description

Since they met during their engineering studies in Paris (Martin was at the Polytechnic School, Antoine trained as a sound engineer for Louis Lumière and Simon has a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence), these "math rockers" have built their identity with melodies. pluperfects that draw from their scientific training. They are the architects of a pop music that flows while being complex, that explores the different facets of rock, the French Touch, and of course, the Anglo-Saxon indie of the 90s.
In 2017 the trio announced their separation. Although it was not a true breakup, Simon Beaudoux and Martin Chourrout took advantage of that time to form Ravages and Antoine Bernard opened a mastering studio. The three created their own label, Finalistes.
After 25 years of friendship, curiosity and learning, they now master all the tools of artistic creation. And that's how they wrote, recorded and produced their latest album, Maps. Only the mixing was entrusted to an outside ear, Etienne Caylou, known for his work with Louise Attaque and Mustang. Six months to write the songs, six months to record them and have this new pop gem. The harmony is palpable, there is no battle of egos in this trio: on the contrary, on this album, it seems that each member has found their place. They choose to work together on music and lyrics at the same time, pursuing the joy and fluidity of collective creation before anything else.
Maps is not only a cartography of his travels, from cities like London or Turin, but also a discovery of his musical evolutions. A chronological journey that begins in the 90s and moves forward into the new century, but also goes back to reference each decade of pop since the 70s.
Since the band's name itself, a reference to the ecological disaster caused by the Exxon Valdez oil tanker, the musicians of Exsonvaldes have shown a strong rejection of pollution. On Maps, their fifth album, an older, wiser trio's chagrin has turned into raging ecological anxiety.
