THE NATVRAL
The Natvral is the new project of Kip Berman, the singer, guitarist and composer of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. In these new Berman songs take inspiration from lyrical folk from rock icons as Richard Thompson, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen (covers “Suzanne”) or Ted Leo. The Natvural became known with an EP, "Know Me More", which Brooklyn Kanine's stamp went into circulation in October 2018. In those brand new songs Kip injected his way of composing candor emotional and a newfound intimacy. More than a project in solitary or parallel, The Natvral serves the frontman of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart to create music that connects with the sound and substance of his current life. Since the recording of the last album with his band, that he had place in 2016, Berman has traded Brooklyn for the charms of the city University of Princeton, New Jersey. “I wanted to pick up my guitar and sing songs in a natural way, without all the stuff on the music that is not music ”, Kip has commented in relation to his new adventure. The Natvral's debut album “Tethers” also released by Kanine in the United States (and Dirty Bingo in Europe), was released on 2 April 2021 and confirms that will. Yes in The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart composed songs about the emotions and ills of the life of a young adult, now he does so by accepting the changes in his own (and not just the aforementioned city; he has also been a father twice) and the transformations he sees in the people he meets. He is a self portrait in relief of all this time away from the life of an artist on tour, where a more homely Berman has discovered like a mirror a sound of broken and unadorned folk-rock.
