Wednesday, September 16, 2026. In today's world—marked by constant acceleration and relentless time pressure—our way of acting is changing, often without us even realizing it. Cooking, driving, playing with Lego bricks, making a political or business decision, refereeing a soccer match, stargazing: in the past, being a human agent meant finding oneself in a situation that required discernment, judgment, a keen eye, and various forms of sensitivity based on experience. Today, these activities no longer demand this kind of action. All we have to do is follow a protocol of a bureaucratic or technological nature, as well as a navigation system that provides us with step-by-step instructions.

Yet, in doing so, we strangely lose touch with reality; we feel disempowered as the link between action and emotion breaks down. This shift in behavior may help explain the rise in burnout and feelings of profound loneliness, but also the surge in political anger. Therefore, we must explore ways to counteract it.

German sociologist Hartmut Rosa, known for his theory of social acceleration and his analysis of our relationship with time, will open the session with a presentation based on his latest book, *Situation and Constellation: How Protocols Are Conquering Our Lives* (NedEdiciones). Following this, he will speak with researcher and curator Alexandra Laudo, who has worked on the social construction of time and the experience of temporality.
