FEMINIST CHALLENGES AFTER A PANDEMIC
About this event
Feminism in the transition provided the ability to establish its own agenda that would lead to equality between men and women, proposing and putting into practice new redefinitions of femininity and masculinity. As well as to develop and elaborate new discourses around the definition of citizenship and create new cultural meanings and new forms of relationship. These factors influenced the emergence of new languages and new organizations of women and feminists in the Spanish public scene, which proposed new languages and feminist discourses. Thus, many of their proposals and approaches in the transition years have been subsequently included in public policies, laws and institutions specifically created to achieve effective equality between men and women. Therefore, the feminist movement was one of the central elements in the construction of democratic culture, directly influencing the transitional process for the achievement of democracy and access to equal citizenship. - Mary Nash, "Women in the World". El Feminario relies on the history and genealogies of Valencian feminism, to collaborate in the construction of feminist knowledge and thought, capable of responding to new challenges and realities. El Feminario arises to collect the tradition of Valencian feminism and to provide answers to current issues. Feminism cannot be absent from the great debates and challenges that our society faces, but rather participate in the analysis and search for solutions, which in order to be sustainable and fair must contemplate the rights and contributions of women to society.
