Exhibition "Carmen Calvo"

Description

The IVAM hosts a major exhibition that traces the professional career of Carmen Calvo, Julio González Award 2022. This exhibition, made up of seventy original pieces by the Valencian artist, aims to surprise the public with her peculiar creative imagination through a careful selection of drawings, books, sculptures and photographs.

Her work is characterized by showing a critical look at the oppression and inequality of women, based on a feminist discourse that is aware of the violence and oppression that the patriarchal society has exerted on them over the years. Reinvented photographic images, sculptures with mannequins as protagonists, hundreds of postcards and even a faithful recreation of Carmen Calvo's workshop are some of the works that the IVAM has selected to form part of the tribute to this great artist.
