Description
"Welcome to the century of machines."
That is the premise of this exhibition on the imaginaries that almost 300 artists have created with the aim of reflecting the spirit of the industrial culture that surrounded them.
Back in the early twentieth century, machines were the symbol of progress and industrialization promised effectiveness and speed.
The cinema, the camera, the telephone, the car or the electrical appliances began to break into our daily lives with a clear impact on the art world.
Photographs, paintings, sculptures, drawings, comics, videos and even collages are all you can see in this exhibition organized into nine sections.
The exhibition is perfectly complemented by other activities such as lectures by Vicente Sánchez-Biosca, professor of Audiovisual Communication; Paula Barreiro, Professor of the History of Contemporary Art at the University of Grenoble-Alpes; and the artist Daniel Canogar, who will also give a workshop in June.
You can visit the IVAM until October 17 to visit it on your own or enjoy a guided visit.
