Guided visits to the exhibitions
'Magnetic Theater' is an exhibition that takes as its starting point the historical phenomenon of animal magnetism—the theory proposed in the 18th century by Franz Anton Mesmer—to explore a profoundly contemporary question: why are we still drawn to systems that promise to explain the world in a total, simple, and convincing way?
Pablo Helguera (Mexico City, 1971) is a conceptual artist, cultural educator, and writer based in New York. His work focuses on themes that oscillate between history, pedagogy, sociolinguistics, memory, and the absurd, which he addresses through diverse formats such as museography, performance, and written fiction.
This exhibition is part of the research on pedagogical curating promoted by the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana (Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community) regarding new curatorial practices and models of cultural mediation, developed through the PERMEA Master's Program: Education and Mediation through Art.
