Description
The museum presents ‘The exiles of Renau’, an exceptional exhibition that you can see at the IVAM until January 9, 2022.
The exhibition is inspired by the artistic and vital work of Josep Renau, Valencian poster artist, muralist and writer.
The exhibition focuses, above all, on his time as an exile in Mexico (1939-1958) and East Germany (1958-1982).
In his life, Renau had great prestige. Especially in political and intellectual circles that promoted the function of art as an instrument at the service of social revolution.
But the Valencian artist was also a great cultural manager.
During the Second Republic, in Valencia, he was a pioneer of the artistic avant-gardes.
And in 1989, the IVAM received a great legacy from his works, archives, and his personal library.
