Verse expuest_ draws on the bombing of the Hamburg Zoo during World War II to reflect on the shared fragility of bodies: animal and human.
Through historical documents and contemporary works, this project addresses vulnerability, violence, and exposure to the gaze of others. Being exposed can also mean being measured, classified, monitored, or judged. Therefore, this project seeks to create a space for examining the ways in which we look. A story from the past that also speaks to our present.
Rocío Garriga (1984) is an artist who combines diverse artistic languages and always chooses forms and materials based on their symbolic and expressive potential. Her latest projects reflect on the connection we maintain with others and with our environment, exploring alternative ways of building relationships by presenting past stories to be interpreted through the lens of the present.
