"Rocío Dúrcal Is Unforgettable" was created to bring together the talents of Carmen Morales and her mother, weaving together stories and songs. It is a show that is by turns dramatic and comedic—yet always tender—tracing the life of Rocío Dúrcal from her birth in 1944 to the present day.

It spans decades of triumphs and setbacks, struggle, dedication, new challenges, and personal sacrifices—decades during which Spain itself underwent a radical transformation.

Rocío was a courageous, daring woman who knew how to reinvent herself time and again, revealing different facets of her fascinating personality. Now, her daughter—joined by the accomplished actor and singer Alejandro Vera—brings her mother’s story to life. Featuring wonderful new arrangements of her mother’s greatest hits by Julio Awad, they share—through song, humor, and tenderness—all the things we have always wanted to know.

Synopsis

Carmen Morales has received an unexpected offer: to collaborate on a musical that explores the life and most famous songs of her mother. Carmen is not entirely convinced that the project should move forward; it has been twenty years since her mother’s passing, and there are certain aspects of the past she would prefer not to revisit.

The project’s writer and director, somewhat desperate due to Carmen’s initial refusal, has asked her to come to the theater to read through the script with him. He has offered her the freedom to cut, change, or add whatever she deems appropriate. Together, they will revisit the most amusing and endearing moments from the lives of her mother and father, as well as her own life—all set against the backdrop of our country’s fascinating history. When time runs out, will Carmen agree to let this zany musical premiere?
