Description

6TH CYCLE WOMEN OF THE BLUES IN MADRID
10:00 p.m.:
LADIES IN BLUE
History of the figure of women in the Blues: by Jones Txako and Kid Carlos Project that seeks to give visibility and prominence to the most representative female figures of the Blues, either in their role as authors or as notable performers of symbolic songs due to their history or meaning. The repertoire offered by Txako and Kid Carlos consists of songs written or performed by the pioneers of the style, with texts that deal with topics such as racism, racial segregation, discrimination against women, drugs, alcohol, romantic relationships or sex. The show unfolds chronologically, interspersing brief anecdotes and key data from the history of blues, with the music in the voice of Txako and the accompaniment of Carlos on the guitar.
Instrumentally, we wanted to respect the old sound by presenting an acoustic and simplistic formation, using small percussion elements so that, as a whole, it is as faithful as possible to the original.

11:15 p.m.:
EDU BIGHANDS (vocals, guitar), MAYKA EDJOLE (vocals), ALEX CAPORUSCIO
(guitar, vocals) and RASPA GARCÍA (piano)

We find a selection of top Madrid musicians, a selection headed by EDU BIGHANDS, one of the best blues guitarists on the circuit, combining electric blues with the oldest country blues, a field in which he stands out for his way of interpreting it, and it will be in this aspect that we will see him alone during the concert. In 2020 he left Madrid, returning in July of this year to offer concerts at La Coquette. And it will be this November 25th when we will have the opportunity to see him again, both alone and accompanied by 3 other magnificent musicians.
The Singer MAYKA EDJOLE, with an incomparable and impeccable career since 1997. Ten years with the soul-funk band “The Sweet Vandals”, very involved with all black music, she is also a singing teacher.
ALEX CAPORUSCIO is another of the reference guitarists on the Madrid circuit and highly respected. With the guitar he displays great energy resulting from the influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Pianist JORGE “RASPA” GARCÍA, greatly influenced by New Orleans pianists, has a deep knowledge of the rest of the blues piano styles.
The 4 musicians have played together on different occasions
