Description

Cibeles de Cine, one of the benchmark summer cinemas for Madrid, will hold its eighth edition from June 29 to September 14 at the Galería de Cristal in CentroCentro, after bringing together more than 25,000 spectators in its last 2022 edition.

The poster for this edition, by the artist Octavio Terol, is a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the unforgettable romantic comedy Roman Holidays (1953), directed by William Wyler with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. The edition will open with another great classic, Casablanca (1942), the iconic romantic drama directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman and winner of the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay.

As a novelty, the tribute to Warner Bros. Pictures to coincide with its 100th anniversary stands out. To celebrate, Cibeles de Cine will screen a cycle where every week the film history of the legendary Hollywood studio will be reviewed with essential films such as Casablanca itself, Singing in the Rain, Rebel Without a Cause, With Death on His Heels, 2001: An Odyssey in space, Blade Runner, Gremlins, The Exorcist, Bitelchús or Los Goonies. In addition, this year the artistic exhibition that complements the movie billboard will also revolve around the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros thanks to the images provided by the studio's film archive.

Within the billboard stand out from the greatest hits of the season (Babylon, Asteroid City, Los Fabelmans, Mission Impossible: Death Sentence, Barbie or Oppenheimer) to the best independent and auteur cinema (The Triangle of Sadness, Aftersun, The Whale , Decision to leave, The Eight Mountains, My Crime, Tár o Living), through cult films from the 80s and 90s (Dirty Dancing, The Big Lebowski), and national title sessions (As bestas, Modelo 77, 20,000 species de abejas, Siege or Ramona) in which some will have the presence of their technical and artistic team. In addition, Saturdays will be a day for the whole family with movies like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, The Little Mermaid, Elementary and the now classics The Princess Bride or Inside the Maze.

Another novelty will be the Cinetronik sessions, where silent films are combined with a live electronic music soundtrack. The films that can be seen in this avant-garde format will be: The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari with a live show by Caliza, The Fly Man (100th anniversary) with a live show by Meneo, and Nanuk, the Eskimo with a live show by Alex Aller.

Other films that will celebrate their anniversary on the Cibeles de Cine screen are: Bicycle Thief (75th anniversary), Eight and a Half (60th anniversary), El Golpe (50th anniversary), The Spirit of the Beehive (50th anniversary), The Exorcist ( 50th anniversary), The Big Lebowski (25th anniversary) or The Miracle of P. Tinto (25th anniversary).

The July schedule and ticket sales are now available at cibelesdecine.com. The proposal for August and September will be announced soon.
