Description

After three years showing more than three hundred Mexican films in our movie theater, we can affirm that there is a great fondness for Mexican cinema in Madrid. These years we have also organized conferences, colloquiums and courses around Mexican cinema, because we think that generating a space for reflection enriches the viewing experience, and brings us closer to Mexico and its protagonists.

After all, watching a Mexican movie is much more than that, it is traveling to Mexico, to the present, or in time, it is knowing first-hand the richness and diversity of Mexican culture through the people who live it And since every trip is better if it is shared, Casa de México presents the CINE CLUB, a space for our film friends.

For our loyal viewers, and for the new ones who want to embark on a new cinematic journey in which we will visit the films in an attentive and expanded way, supported by a program of conferences and colloquiums with special guests.

An annual program designed by a specialist curator, in which we will reflect on different aspects of Mexico, from the cinema and from its history. In addition to the CINE CLUB annual program, if you become a member you can enjoy many other advantages of our Casa de México program such as previews, meetings with the industry, exclusive screenings, exclusive meetings with filmmakers and discounts on film-related courses. CINEMA CLUB 21-22 Mexican cinema and Spanish cinema, so close and so far.

Ten visions of a shared world. Coordinator: Marina Diaz Lopez Relations between Mexican cinema and Spanish cinema have a possible common trajectory that runs parallel to the history of both countries, with their contacts, their detachments and their sutures.

As part of their cultures, the connection between both cinematographies has been habitual and the history of co-productions goes back to 1948, in which it has been established that the first of them is carried out with Jalisco canta en Sevilla; title that emphasizes the coexistence of both folklores and, therefore, of both countries.

These transnational dynamics made it common for actors and actresses to travel in both directions, as a way of finding the naturalness of thinking about shared stories and imaginaries. To this extent, the interest of its audiences on each side of the Atlantic in the world of the other is revealed by the continuity of this coexistence until very close dates. In the same way, there are other episodes that deserve a comparative look to recognize the work in both cinematographies taking some examples, such as avant-garde cinema, women's cinema, photographic treatment, literary adaptations or the way of building certain archetypal characters and two genres that identify the cinema par excellence, such as the musical film and the western.

This first edition of CINE CLUB wants to bear witness to the conjunctions and parallels between both cinematographies. Undoubtedly, cinema is also one of the first manifestations whose imprint was and is necessarily international. In the case of Mexico and Spain, there are many points of interest, places of memory, the desire for an encounter to make this trip evident through their cinemas.
