El Pisito (1958) portrays from the Italian neo-realistic style a topic of maximum current time, almost seventy years later: the precariousness of a married couple who can't marry due to lack of means to buy a home.
Milanese Marco Ferreri moves to Spain in 1955 as a representative of an Italian house of cinematic optics. He makes friends with the writer and screenwriter Rafael Azcona, with whom he will maintain collaboration over the years.
Ferreri and Azcona approached Isidoro M. Ferry, who decides to produce the film. They sign it together, Ferreri and Ferry, among other things, for union laws that would not allow it to be done alone because of Italian nationality.

The treatment of such a arid subject was not well seen by the Francoist regime, being rejected and stigmatized by official criticism. It wasn't profitable, though, with time and its passes on television, it was more successful and today has become a classic.

The film follows the trend of Italian neo-realism, when that was already relocating, looking for the naturalness, the veracity of natural decorations, social denunciation, improvisation, and feelings above the narrative.
