POP CAAC
Meadow of the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art, Entrance via Calle Américo Vespucio, 2, Seville, Seville, 41092
The end of summer is danced at the Cartuja! The POP CAAC is back, the concert series that transforms the meadow of the Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art into the epicenter of alternative and indie music in Seville.
The concert series held at the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art (CAAC) announces La M.O.D.A., Ultraligera, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, Arrecí0, and Aldhara for Friday, September 11.
A new edition of Pop CAAC is underway, the concert series that in recent years has brought the hottest bands of the moment to the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art (CAAC) in Seville at the end of summer. The first day to reveal its full lineup is Friday, September 11, with a lineup featuring La Maravillosa Orquesta del Alcohol (La M.O.D.A.), Ultraligera, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, Arrecí0, and Aldhara.
The concert will take place on Friday, September 11, in one of the most emblematic spaces of the venue, the meadow of the Monastery of La Cartuja at the CAAC. Its history, architecture, and natural surroundings make it the perfect setting to enjoy live music during summer nights.
This new announcement confirms the high expectations for the upcoming edition of POP CAAC, as it joins the already announced Carolina Durante concert on Saturday, September 19th. This will be their only concert in Andalusia as part of their tour finale, and the evening will feature more bands, yet to be announced.
In this way, POP CAAC reaffirms its commitment to being much more than a typical concert series: it is a unique experience that combines music, heritage, and an unforgettable atmosphere, with a diverse and high-quality lineup, in the historic setting of the Cartuja Monastery and the CAAC (Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art). It has been an essential event on the current music scene for several years now.
About the bands
La M.O.D.A., an acronym for La Maravillosa Orquesta del Alcohol (The Wonderful Alcohol Orchestra), is a septet with a sound defined by the organic instruments they play (accordion, clarinet, mandolin, banjo, etc.) and by their hometown of Burgos. The band's trajectory has always revolved around live performance. Thanks to word of mouth, La M.O.D.A. has grown steadily, doing things their own way, self-releasing their albums, and building a loyal fanbase. This has led them to tour the national circuit and perform in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with nearly 600 concerts played since their inception.
Ultraligera. The band emerged in 2021. They recorded their first two tracks during a songwriting retreat outside Bilbao (Gaua Studios) with producer Txarlie Solano. A few months later, they enthusiastically signed their record deal, and the project took off. They recorded their first EP in 2023 with Ludovico Vagnone at Studio A, taking another step towards defining their own sound and themes, which have become their own world. With ‘Pelo de foca’ (Seal Hair), the band has taken a giant leap forward, becoming one of the most sought-after groups by fans who appreciate guitar-driven pop with thoughtful lyrics.
Leechlets of the Guadiana. From enthusiastically releasing the first singles from their debut album in a small town in Badajoz, to appearing in prime time on the hit Spanish Television program ‘La Revuelta’ (The Revolt), and selling thousands upon thousands of tickets for their end-of-tour concerts in just a few hours. Sanguijuelas del Guadiana's trajectory has been meteoric, based solely on word of mouth, fueled by the authenticity of their concerts and the honesty of their songs, which blend the warmth of rumba with Extremaduran tangos, transgressive rock, and electronica as a spark for liberating dance.
Arrecí0. The group was formed in Seville in 2022. A project with an ambitious mission: to connect with bisexual teenage girls or young adults who haven't quite settled down yet. Describing themselves as "tonti-punk," they contaminate the subconscious of young people with messages of love, the power of friendship, madness, sapphism, and many other variations.
Aldhara is a young, emerging artist, born in the United States and raised in Madrid. With conservatory training and flamenco studies, her artistic universe is characterized by a wide range of sensations, images, and sonic textures. It has its own unique stamp: a very personal voice that conveys truth and emotion.
