48H Open House Barcelona

Description

For one weekend every October, Barcelona does something rather extraordinary: it opens up buildings, interiors and architectural spaces that most of us normally only see from the street.
On October 24–25, the 48H Open House Barcelona festival returns, with more than 250 buildings and architectural sites taking part across Barcelona and the surrounding area.
And this isn’t just about modern offices.
Architecture lovers can explore everything from contemporary buildings to some of Barcelona’s most fascinating historic spaces.
Among the names worth watching this year are the magnificent Sant Pau complex, where special visits are already confirmed, and the wonderfully eccentric Casa Sayrach, a 1915 Modernista apartment building on Avinguda Diagonal whose Gaudí-inspired lobby and staircase are usually off-limits to casual visitors.
The Open House program also features Barcelona landmarks including the Arc de Triomf and the Cascada Monumental in Ciutadella Park — places thousands of people walk past without ever getting the chance to study from an architectural perspective.
The timing makes 2026 particularly special. Barcelona is spending the year as World Capital of Architecture, so the entire city has essentially become a giant celebration of the buildings that shaped it.
If you’re planning to go: Don’t try to see everything.
Pick two or three buildings you genuinely want to explore and check whether they require advance registration. Some of the most unusual interiors attract long lines, and the festival even publishes live wait-time information during Open House weekend.
