The 31st Barcelona International Women's Film Festival presents the
Autumn programs
From October 6 to November 30, 2023
Latin American documentary filmmakers, Known (also) at home,
Feminist Film Manifestos IX and Archipélag Project
During the autumn months the 31st International Women's Film Festival of
Barcelona (MIFDB) continues to pull the endless thread of resistance
films, a pattern on which we embroider, stitch by stitch, the programming
of this edition that will count in this second part with a total of 14
feature films and 21 shorts.
The selected films are correlated with each other in a sea
of cross-references and common references: the young struggles are inspired by
the old ones, and they also inspire them; meetings between communities inform
energy to those who inhabit them; film content is open to others
disciplines feeding on songs, texts and publications. Many of the
pieces that make up these cycles overflow the academic formats and
they criticize the institutions that safeguard them from a position
debauched and defiant; others employ familiar formats that become
inexhaustible in the hands of contemporary female directors.

Feminist Film Manifestos IX that this year, in addition to taking place in the
Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, expands to two others
spaces: the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in Madrid, and the Filmoteca, in Valencia.
During these months, the annual call for the Project will also be opened
Archipelago, whose works can be seen at the closing party
of this edition at Zumzeig Cinecooperativa.
