Coming of age

Description

Coming of Age

Cheol-taek, a retired welder and alcoholic, lives alone in precarious conditions when he is suddenly diagnosed with terminal stage-four cancer. The heavy burden of his medical care falls entirely upon his only daughter, Jeong-mi—a frustrated actress struggling to get by as an extra in minor television productions. The looming tragedy, followed by the father’s unexpected recovery, forces the members of a long-estranged family—including his estranged wife, who is trying to rebuild her life, and his elderly mother—to reunite under one roof. Through everyday situations laced with irony and dark humor, this forced cohabitation compels them to confront old, unresolved grudges, generational gaps, and the weight of emotional obligations in contemporary Korea.
