Laura Marchal is a flamenco singer and professor of flamenco singing at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC). Her deep, sweet, and nuanced voice overflows with emotion and evokes the wisdom of ancient flamenco singing, while remaining an artist of our time. Performing the traditional flamenco repertoire remains her main goal today, as demonstrated by her outstanding career spanning more than a decade in clubs, festivals, and tablaos. Since then, her festival performances have led her to share the bill with leading flamenco figures such as Luis el Zambo, Israel Fernández, La Macanita, Marina Heredia, Antonio Reyes, and Sílvia Pérez Cruz on her "Toda la vida un día" tour, and she has collaborated live on such special songs as "Salir diferente," a track with strong flamenco influences. Her musical universe encompasses a wide range of influences, originating from flamenco and ranging from folklore, copla, and Andalusian song, to later approaches to jazz, Latin American-influenced music, and singer-songwriters, among others. All of these influences inspire her to develop her compositional talent and write her songs.
In her album "La Semilla Del Encanto", which will be released in early 2025, Laura addresses these two facets: on the one hand, the risk and spontaneity of live flamenco, and on the other, the more personal search through songs that transport to atmospheres of very diverse musical influences, but which are part of the imagination and the needs of expression of a rooted artist with creative freedom.
