Cibeles de Cine, one of the reference summer cinemas for Madrid residents, will celebrate its ninth edition from June 27 to September 12 in the Crystal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace, a space in the Area of ​​Culture, Tourism and Sports, after gathering in its 2023 edition to more than 33,000 spectators. For 11 weeks, viewers will be able to enjoy a careful program made up of more than 75 films, including great classics, cult titles, films for the whole family, independent and auteur films, as well as the latest hits from the season.

This cinematographic event, an essential event for Madrid's summer nights, is organized by CentroCentro and designed and produced by mk2 and its events agency, mk2 Sunset Cinema.

The poster for this edition is a tribute to the 70th anniversary of The Law of Silence (1954), the captivating drama directed by Elia Kazan, winner of eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Leading Actor (Marlon Brando) and Supporting Actress (Eva Marie Saint). This extraordinary story of redemption and the underworld will be the first classic film screening of the summer on Sunday, June 30. It will be a tribute to the protagonist couple, since 2024 marks 100 years since their birth.

Within the billboard of the ninth edition of Cibeles de Cine, everything from the greatest hits of the season (The Specialist, Back to Black, Fly Me to the Moon, Civil War, Furiosa: from the Mad Max saga) to the best have been selected. independent and auteur films (Past Lives, Priscilla, Blood on the Lips, The Iron Clan, Bikeriders, Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest, We'll Always Have Tomorrow, Evil Doesn't Exist), as well as national titles (Segundo Premio, Nina, Robot Dreams), which will be attended by its technical and artistic team. As usual, Saturday will be the day chosen to enjoy with the family movies like Wonka, The Goonies, Inside Out 2 or The Princess Bride.

Following in the wake of the classics, the 25th anniversary of the TCM television channel will be celebrated, with the screening of a special series that includes essential films from the history of cinema, which are also some of the public's favorites. Among the titles chosen will be At the end of the getaway, Cinema Paradiso, Apocalypse Now, Charada or Reservoir Dogs.

Once again the Cinetronik events will return, where pioneering silent cinema is combined with a soundtrack of live electronic music. The films that can be seen in this avant-garde format will be the documentary The Man with the Camera (1929) scored by the artist Huma; and The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari (1920), by the artist Caliza.

In addition to the aforementioned The Law of Silence, other films that will celebrate their anniversary on the Cibeles de Cine screen are It Happened One Night (90th anniversary), Diligence (85th anniversary) or The Third Man (75th anniversary).

For the first time, the aerial artistic exhibition that complements the film and event programming will be photographic. These are 24 giant format portraits of renowned national and international artists, taken by Jorge Fuembuena, one of the most prominent photographers in Spain, closely linked to the world of the seventh art. Fuembuena has an extensive career making stills on filming, working as a director of photography, as official photographer of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Malaga Festival, Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes, CineHorizontes Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Marseille, or collaborating with the Film Academy.

Cibeles de Cine will open its doors next June 27th until September 12th. For 11 uninterrupted weeks (except on July 6 when the space will remain closed), its opening hours will be from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 p.m. The screenings will start at 10:00 p.m. From 8:00 p.m. attendees will be able to enjoy the bar and restaurant area.

The stalls are made up of 650 chairs with cushions. The image is in high definition and the films are listened to through wireless headphones that guarantee immersion and quality of the experience during the projection.
