"Siamese"

Description

The Siamese + Presentation by the director of the film Paula Hernández, the actress Valeria Lois and the directors of the Festival. With the collaboration of Casa de América. Paula Hernández, Argentina, 2020, 1h 20 min, VOSI [DCP] Clota and Stella are mother and daughter. They live alone in an old family house in the city of Junín. The link between them is diffuse and they seem condemned to live together, glued, in an endogamous routine. Stella's attempts at independence have been lukewarm and Clota has done little and nothing to favor her. One day, Stella receives news and an unexpected inheritance: her father, with whom she has cut off all communication for years, has died. Two small apartments in a lonely seaside resort are his legacy. Stella decides to start a journey to know that miracle that she presents to her as a new and last possibility of becoming independent. But Clota sees in this that she does not correspond to him, the opportunity to sell them and live well for a few more years. Cornered, Stella agrees to travel with her mother. Towards the end of the tour, at one of the last stops, Clota discovers Stella's true intentions for her future and perceives it as a surgical separation. It is no longer an intuition but the confirmation of an idea. On the shoulder of the road, alone, in the middle of the night, mother and daughter have a last and brutal argument that precipitates the storm and emancipation.
