This month a complete retrospective of the director and screenwriter JUAN ANTONIO BARDEM (1922-2002), one of the most important filmmakers in Spain, begins at the Doré, which will end in August. In June and July, a selection of the best works, most of them in restored copies, by CHICK STRAND, a central name in the history of ethnographic, experimental and avant-garde cinema, and by VITTORIO DE SICA, one of the fathers of neorealism and author of jewels such as Umberto D. and Bicycle Thief. The fourth new cycle in June is THE CINEMA IN SPAIN OF CLARA CAMPOAMOR, legendary politician and lawyer and icon of the feminist struggle, which consists of 6 films from the 1920s and 1930s. The program of the Spanish Film Library in June is completed with the latest screenings of the retrospectives dedicated to the British production company EALING and the Polish director ANDRZEJ ZULAWSKI, some from the official competition of the FILMADRID 2022 festival, another to celebrate the centenary of ALAIN RESNAIS, four adaptations by Jules Verne in the FILMOTECA JUNIOR section, new sessions of FLORES EN LA SOMBRA, SALA:B... and much more.
