ARTIFACT: A THOUSAND TENTACLES

CREATED BY THE ARTIST ANNA IRINA RUSSELL FROM SEPTEMBER 27, 2025 TO JUNE 4, 2026. A work of art, a versatile piece of furniture, or workshop materials... Artefact is all of these things: a mobile device, somewhere between an art installation and a pedagogical resource, specifically designed to accommodate mediation proposals and materials created by artists and facilitated by an educator.

Increasing volume, inflating a membrane, filling with air... these are some of the reactions that certain beings and organisms adopt in the face of danger or to communicate something. In this workshop, we will draw inspiration from these behaviors to construct temporary inflatable structures that will become extensions of the geometric pieces of Artefact. We will create tentacles, cavities, and protuberances with pieces of fabric that, combined together, will allow us to relate to space through play and experimentation. We will step into the shoes of organisms beyond the human body and construct a shared space where we become a collective body.

An artistic proposal by Anna Irina Russell, a multidisciplinary artist who uses sculpture, installation, and performance to reflect on communication processes. She is interested in the tensions between bodies, space, objects, and materials. She often works with a playful language as a tool to investigate, highlight, and subvert certain pre-established communicative structures that often go unnoticed. She has exhibited her work at institutions such as MACBA, La Casa Encendida, and CCCB.

Recommended activity for families with children aged 4 and up.

COMMENTS
The activity will begin promptly. Please arrive at the center with sufficient time to spare. In order to ensure the smooth running of the activities and your overall experience, access may be restricted once they have begun.

Children must always be accompanied by an adult who must also reserve a ticket for the activity.
