Hi, I'm Shawn James!
I've had too many writers who think they can summarize me and convey who I am from an hour-long conversation to write my "biography," but I can't take it anymore. Screw that. I will tell it in my own words.
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I grew up on the south side of the city, where I went to a gospel church. I was always surrounded by sincere music that comes from the heart, and by hard-working, authentic and simple people. Although I no longer follow any religion, I value the moments I had and how they shaped me to be who I am today.
I have moved around quite a bit, living in different parts of the United States. I absorbed all kinds of cultures from here and around the world, and developed my own musical style.
I started releasing my own music in 2012 and haven't stopped since. I play a wide range of styles, from folk to blues, R&B, gospel, rock, metal and everything in between. The main constant among all genres is that everything is done with emotion, feeling, heart and a lot of soul. I say what I think and feel deeply what I touch.
