Description

The grandson of one of Egypt's most famous singers, the great Muharram Fouad, Tamino began playing the guitar after finding a rare resophonic guitar in his late grandfather's attic as a teenager. He now plays and interprets it together with the Arabic lute, something that connects him with his cultural and family past and helps him understand and articulate his emotional present. Written in Tamino's Antwerp apartment and bolstered by collaborations including Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood, producer/engineer PJ Maertens and drummer Ruben Vanhoutte, their acclaimed sophomore album "Sahar" is the perfect blend of Arabic folk and indie rock. experimental with deep orchestral arrangements. Included on this new album are tracks such as the single "Sunflower", whose surreal video clip features Belgian superstar Angéle, evoking images inspired by a love triangle depicted in Italo Calvino's short story "La Distancia de la Luna".
