Description

The love embodied by Nadine Sierra and Javier Camarena in the Bayerische Staatsoper production
The gothic ruins and wretched loves that Walter Scott collected in The Bride of Lammermoor are the necessary ingredients to add a transporting music to a misty tragedy full of rivalries and traumatic and complex personalities.

A fragile protagonist as glass, a stern priest, a scheming brother, a secret and unfortunate fiancé, a groom murdered by the bride on her wedding day ... a blood wedding. A cursed love between Lucia and Edgardo, in the manner of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , in which the lovers are descendants of two estranged families and where there is a prohibition against loving someone from the other clan.

Lucia di Lammermoor represents the feminine model of Romanticism that transits between fragility and weightlessness. It is on the border between the spirit and the dream where Lucia, paradigm of the genre, emerges. Figure of a closed, sublime and inaccessible spiritualism that finds its expression in a privileged space: the scene of madness, where feelings of pain and melancholy are evoked by embodying magic and the enigma of obsession turned into madness.
