The Kooks, whose 2006 debut album sold over two million copies, have unexpectedly become icons for a new generation. While retaining their original audience, the band has garnered a significant Gen Z fandom, headlining festivals and selling out venues around the world. Social media has helped reposition them as one of the most beloved bands of the moment, bringing their unmistakable Brit-pop spirit to new venues.
That debut album was a milestone for 2000s indie music, and their early hits defined the sound of an era. Few songs define that decade as much as Naïve, although the group's trajectory is far from a "one-hit wonder": their second album, Konk, reached number one and is one of the four that have entered the top 10.
Far from stagnating, The Kooks have managed to evolve, moving from indie rock to synthpop and krautrock influences. Throughout their career, they have incorporated diverse inspirations: from Harris's passion for soul and opera, to Pritchard's classic references, such as Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.
