XIV Meeting of Asian Studies: "Employability and Asian Studies"

The 14th Meeting of Asian Studies (REA) will once again bring together researchers, professors, and professionals involved in Asian studies to share experiences, strengthen academic networks, and reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing this field of knowledge in Spain.

While the 2024 REA focused on knowledge transfer and the 2025 REA on artificial intelligence, this year's edition, organized by Casa Asia in collaboration with the University of Valladolid (UVa), the Faculty of Commerce and Labor Relations, and the UVa Center for Asian Studies, will be dedicated to "Employability and Asian Studies." It will address the relationship between specialized training in Asia and professional opportunities within an international context marked by the growing economic, political, and cultural relevance of the Asian continent.

Furthermore, within the framework of the Spain-India Dual Year, the opening session will be led by Indologist Òscar Pujol, who will offer insights into the evolution and future prospects of Indian studies in Spain.

The day will continue with a roundtable discussion on employability and Asian studies, in which representatives from the academic, institutional, and professional sectors will debate the most in-demand skills, career paths for specialists in Asian studies, and strategies for strengthening the connection between universities and the labor market. In this regard, the Asian Studies Reflection Group, comprised of representatives from Spanish universities and coordinated by Casa Asia, has developed a questionnaire on employability and Asian studies for graduates, educators, and employers, with the aim of presenting its findings during the roundtable.

As in previous editions, the Asian Studies Meeting aims to establish itself as a forum for dialogue and exchange within the academic community dedicated to Asian studies, fostering knowledge sharing, the development of new collaborative initiatives, and addressing the challenges that arise.
