From December 20, 2025 to June 23, 2026. Why do we film ourselves? What does home movie footage tell us about ourselves? The exhibition “[REC]UERDOS. Life Through Home Movies” explores different historical and contemporary aspects of home movies. Its aim is to highlight the value of this practice throughout history, to showcase its methods, devices, purposes, and uses up to the present day, thus promoting awareness for its preservation.

In this guided tour, we will delve into the concept of home movies, learn about their technological evolution, and the main themes represented throughout history. We will also discover some practices of appropriating and using home movies in the context of audiovisual creation, as well as the evolution of family home movies in contemporary visual culture in relation to the internet and social media.
