Guided Tours with the Curator: Efrén Cuevas

Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026. Efrén Cuevas, curator of the exhibition “[REC]uerdos. La vida a través del cine hogar” ([REC]ores. Life Through Home Movies) and principal investigator of the project, will lead a guided tour of the exhibition. Through his experience and expertise, he will invite us to delve deeper into the works and the stories that comprise it, offering a more complete and nuanced perspective. His viewpoint, the result of research and the curatorial process, will allow us to discover new interpretations and connections within the collection.

Led by:

Efrén Cuevas, Professor of Audiovisual Communication at the University of Navarra. His research has been published in Spain, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom, Hungary, and Poland, and has focused on the relationships between history, memory, and archives, with a special emphasis on autobiographical documentaries and home movies. He directs the research project “Home Movies in Spain: Preservation, Dissemination, and Appropriation,” has edited the book *The Open House: Home Movies and Their Contemporary Recycling* (2010), and has published numerous articles and book chapters. He is also the author of the monographs *Filming History from Below: Microhistorical Documentaries* (2022) and *Elia Kazan* (Cátedra, 2000), and co-editor of the books *Man Without a Camera: The Cinema of Alan Berliner* (2002) and *Landscapes of the Self: The Cinema of Ross McElwee* (2008). He has conducted research at Columbia University, New York University, Yale University, and the University of Toronto, and has given seminars and lectures at universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Italy.
