About the movie
At the beginning of this millennium, José Luis Guerin films the process of transformation of the Raval urban landscape during the construction of a block of flats.

Veïns, workers, immigrants and future buyers of the habitats parade through this fundamental work of contemporary European cinema. Guerín rediscovers the landscape with a camera that observes the patience of an archaeologist, and in his testimonies of the daily life of the people of the neighborhood regarding his six exceptional dialogues and full of life.

José Luis Guerín is one of the leading authors of contemporary Spanish cinema. In each of the six films – fictions, documentaries, assaigs, correspondences, diaries – he investigates and reflects on cinema, proposing a new way of exploring it.

This is also the case of Under Construction, a film that, accompanying the course of construction of a building, portrays people, offices, relationships, a neighborhood, a neighborhood, a time. It is Barcelona, ​​and there are at once many barriers of so many other European cities: the capes of times, the precarious balance between the inhabitants and the various histories and the transformations and desires for renewal and change that, in the next step, the displacements.
